Not Your Average Blues Band - We Have All The Blues You Can Use
Rochester-based blues band Bill Schmitt and the Bluesmasters have been a roadhouse fixture in upstate New York since 2013.
With freight train rhythms, subtle phrasing and bright intricate solos, the music draws influence from artists like Freddie King, Muddy Waters and Joe Bonamassa.
These guys will take a typical 12 bar blues rhythm and keep it swinging – making it relevant and exciting for old school blues fans as well as younger listeners of jazz and R & B.
Alison Schmitt (Vocals) is a classically-trained musician at the top of her game who was born with the blues in her soul. Her powerful voice and dynamic performances get the crowd on their feet and keep them there all night
Bob Fess (Lead Guitar) grew up with the blues; his fretboard skills make him a driving force. Thick-toned guitar workouts and spellbinding solos demonstrate his love and reverence for the blues and classic rock greats like Eric Clapton, Freddy King, Muddy Waters and Jeff Beck.
Kirk Stamp (Tenor Sax) brings a showman's energy and expert musicianship to the Bluesmasters. His solos range from funky to wailing, captivating audiences. He and John Carlino are the twin architects of the Bluesmasters' sound.
John Carlino's (Bass) lines form the heart of the band's songs, ranging from from delicate grooves to a metronomic swing. His musicianship is second to none, working with Kirk Stamp to provide direction for the ensemble.
Mike Masters' (Drums) poly rhythms, muscular shuffles and tasty fills form the bedrock for the rest of the band. His funky drum style keeps the groove moving and energy up.
Bill Schmitt (Keys) makes this ensemble all possible and provides the band's vison to keep things together and moving in the right direction. His B3 style keyboard skills keep things traditional but also add well crafted energetic lines to each song.
